Kath + Belle | Do You Know an Average Woman Use More Than 500 Chemicals a Day!

kath + belle do you know an average woman use more than 500 chemicals a day!

Kath + Belle doesn’t just exist to provide organic and chemical-free products to protect the baby’s skin and family’s health. Kath + Belle is also here to educate everyone, especially women, of the dangerous chemicals they use and put on their skin.

Women and beauty products have had a long-standing love affair. Since nothing makes a woman feel and look better than a new lipstick or favorite perfume. However, did you know that many of the products average women use on a daily basis are made up of a cocktail of industrially manufactured and potentially harmful chemicals? From toiletries to skincare products to cosmetics. Many of these products have been linked to a variety of health issues, ranging from allergies and skin issues to more severe hormone issues, fertility issues, and even cancer.

The Ugly Side of Beauty Products

The products we use on our eyelids, cheeks, lips, scalps, underarms, and private parts every day, should be as well-regulated as the food we consume, healthy and toxic-free. Harmful ingredients and chemicals found in cosmetics and other personal care products such as shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, makeup, baby powder, vaginal douches, lotion, body sprays, and perfumes, and hair dyes and straighteners have been linked but not limited to:

  • Ovarian cancer
  • Breast cancer
  • Early-onset of puberty
  • Fibroids
  • Endometriosis
  • Miscarriage
  • Poor maternal and infant health outcomes
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity, and many more

Kath + Belle Tips To Minimize Chemical Exposure From Personal-Care Products

  • Read labels carefully

Make it a habit to read labels before buying and using personal care products. Avoid products that contain chemicals that have the strongest evidence of future danger, such as formaldehyde, mercury, toluene (an industrial solvent that may damage the nervous system), and lead.

When it comes to beauty products, hair dyes, hair relaxers, nail polish, and skin-lightening creams are the worst of all the worst.

  • Go for fragrance-free products

Fragranced products usually contain Phthalates, well-known endocrine damaging chemicals. Buy products that are labeled “fragrance-free” to prevent them completely.  Bear in mind that “unscented” doesn’t necessarily mean “fragrance-free,” and certain products can even contain phthalates.

  • Overall, lessen the use of beauty products

Assess the products you use every day and remove those that aren’t absolutely necessary—especially if they contain any of the most harmful ingredients.
